Leading our clients with digital marketing

Selamat siang (Hello), This is Taofik.
Netmarks Indonesia (PT Netmarks Indonesia) was established in 1998, so it is our 24th anniversary this year (2022). We have 50 employees ranging mostly between the age of 20’s to the 30’s.

Netmarks Indonesia has acquired ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) and ISO 27001:2013 (Information Security Management System) certifications. We have been rated highly by our clients for the proactive services we provide.

In our previous blog article, Letter from Netmarks Indonesia, we introduced some IT trends in Indonesia. Today, I would like to add more new information to that.

In 2020, we formed a Digital Marketing Team at our company to empower our marketing activities. As a part of this project, we are offering scheduled seminars locally twice a month. It is quite a difficult task to host 2 seminars within one month, but we are getting some good results.
What kind of topics do you think the seminar attendees are interested in?

They are:
#1: Cyber Security
#2: Metaverse (AR, VR, MR and such)
#3: IT Infrastructure

There has also been an increased interest in AWS.Did you know that Amazon affiliated company, Amazon Web Services (AWS), opened a region in Jakarta in December 2021? Many companies which were rather hesitant in migrating to the cloud took this opportunity to consider AWS cloud migration.Since Netmarks Indonesia is AWS partner offering AWS solutions in our [iCRAVER] service, we have been getting increased number of inquiries on the cloud migration.

Indonesia capital relocation related solutions have also been attracting some interests. The island the new capital is going to be at is Kalimantan Island which has an abundant source of the natural resources such as oil, gas, and mineral ores. I believe there is a big business chance of related services in those fields.

SNS in Indonesia

According to DIGITAL 2022 report, 68.9% of the Indonesia population is using social media. Although the ratio figure of 68.9% may not seem that high, remember that Indonesia has the 4th largest population in the world. It means that 190 million users are using social media. On top of that, the rate of the volume of the users increased by 12.6% last year. That’s an increase of 2.1 million new users.

So, which social media do you think is most often used in Indonesia? For BtoB, it is LinkedIn. On other hand, TikTok followed by Instagram is often used for BtoC. Netmarks Indonesia uses various types of social media including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Spotify to output our information. Out of these, we use LinkedIn the most followed by Instagram.

Remote Work During the COVID-19 Pandemic

During the pandemic phase of COVID-19 when the number of infections were rapidly increasing, Netmarks Indonesia decided to have only 50% of the employees come to the office. As the number of COVID-19 infections decreased, all employees are now back to coming to the office. It is more common for companies in Indonesia to have the employees come to their offices as the remote work is not so established yet. Online meetings were used to communicate with the clients from before the pandemic, so we continued using the same tool.

Communications

Indonesians are innately friendly. However, the rise of the social media changed the way we interact with each other. COVID-19 did not help neither. People stayed at home and communicated over the internet. There are more cases of people slandering on the net.

According to 2021 Microsoft Digital Civility Index (DCI) which surveyed the manners and behaviors of the users on the net, Indonesia was rated low by scoring 29th among 32 South East Asian countries. Low IT literacy and undefined IT regulations are some of the causes for this low DCI score.

In order to improve the employees’ communication skills within the company, Netmarks Indonesia is taking some measures.
For example, the “Entertainment Day” introduced in Letter from Netmarks Indonesia blog article started as a onetime event for going out to a theme park or for having lunch or dinner together with the members of the same office. It then turned out to be a monthly event to deepen our relationship among all the employees.

We also have morning briefings from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM & evening briefings form 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM to have a better collaboration in sharing the information internally.

Things we keep in mind for the Japan originated companies

It may be due to the warm weather culture we have, but the Indonesians in general are very relaxed. We sometimes can be loose about following the rules and keeping track of time. On the other hand, since most of Netmarks Indonesia clients are Japan originated companies, I tell my employees on a scheduled basis to follow the time very strictly.
